In Newark, following the 2024 election results, Dena Mottola Jaborska, Executive Director of New Jersey Citizen Action (NJCA), released a statement addressing the organization's stance moving forward.
“While we acknowledge the victory of Donald Trump in the presidential race, our mission to fight for economic security, racial justice, healthcare access, and civil rights will not waiver," Jaborska stated.
She emphasized that despite the election outcome not aligning with their hopes, NJCA remains resolute in its dedication to social and economic justice. "Today, we are reminded that the fight for equality and justice is ongoing," she said. The organization continues to draw inspiration from Kamala Harris and Tim Walz's campaign values, focusing on prioritizing working people over billionaires and advocating for women's reproductive rights and accessible healthcare.
Jaborska expressed strong opposition to what she described as divisive forces represented by Trump's agenda. "We refuse to let the forces of division and injustice...determine the future of our nation," she declared. She further highlighted NJCA's commitment against normalizing hate, bigotry, sexism, and any assaults on women's rights or democracy.
Concluding her statement, Jaborska affirmed NJCA's ongoing efforts: "This is not the end of the road; it is simply another chapter in our ongoing fight." The organization plans to continue advocating for policies that support affordable housing and workers' rights while collaborating with partners and grassroots organizations across New Jersey.
