New Jersey Citizen Action vows continued fight for care economy after 2024 election

In the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election, which resulted in a second term for Donald Trump, New Jersey Citizen Action (NJCA) has pledged to continue advocating for policies that support working families and vulnerable populations. The organization emphasizes the importance of affordable healthcare, housing, and investments in the care economy.

The care economy includes national paid family leave, affordable childcare, and support for the aging population. These initiatives are seen as essential for assisting voters across New Jersey. NJCA contrasts these priorities with what it describes as a Trump agenda that "normalizes bigotry" and may harm working families by neglecting care economy infrastructure.

Yarrow Willman-Cole, NJCA Workplace Justice Program Director, stated: “This election's results won't deter us from continuing our efforts on national paid leave and affordable childcare that working families need." He emphasized their commitment to opposing policies that threaten economic stability during critical life events such as welcoming a new child or caring for aging relatives. Willman-Cole added that NJCA will continue to advocate for reducing burdens on primary caregivers and care workers, especially women of color.
