Governor Murphy discusses UK-NJ healthtech partnership ahead of 2025 trade mission

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy engaged in discussions with the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) during a visit to London as part of the Choose New Jersey economic mission. The objective was to enhance collaboration between New Jersey and UK partners, particularly in life sciences and HealthTech sectors.

Governor Murphy emphasized the importance of these partnerships, stating, "New Jersey is committed to fostering global partnerships that drive innovation and economic growth." He noted that working with ABHI offers a chance to bolster New Jersey's leadership in Life Sciences and HealthTech.

The groundwork for this initiative was laid during a previous visit by an ABHI cohort to New Jersey in September. This included interactions with key healthcare and research institutions like Liberty Science Center's SciTech Scity, Hackensack Meridian Health, Rutgers University, and Rowan University. These meetings set the stage for an upcoming delegation visit from ABHI to New Jersey scheduled for April 2025.

Paul Benton from ABHI highlighted the significance of this collaboration: "With our U.S. Accelerator planning a delegation to New Jersey in 2025, this is a fantastic opportunity for UK business leaders."

The roundtable in London saw participation from various clinical leaders such as those from UCL Partners and Imperial College London. Mark Kildea of The Howard de Walden Estate remarked on London's healthcare capabilities, stressing the importance of investment and trade in improving patient care.

Wes Mathews, President & CEO of Choose New Jersey, reinforced the commitment to expanding ties with UK HealthTech leaders: "We look forward to welcoming ABHI's trade delegation to New Jersey in 2025."
