The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce have announced nominees for the third annual DE&I Trailblazer Awards Reception. This event, set to take place on November 14 at Pines Manor in Edison, aims to honor companies making significant strides in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).
John E. Harmon Sr., founder, president, and CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, emphasized the importance of intentional actions in addressing marketplace inequities. "Supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion isn’t the same as actively advocating for it or implementing measurable equity and inclusion goals across an entire organization," he stated.
The awards will recognize achievements in areas such as access to capital, board diversity, corporate citizenship, supplier diversity, and workforce diversity. Over recent months, both chambers have gathered a diverse list of nominees from various industries who have prioritized DE&I within their business strategies.
Among the nominees are companies like American Water; AmeriHealth; BND Consulting; Center for Family Services; CGI Technologies and Solutions Inc.; Comcast; Electra Lines LLC; Elevate 360 LLC; Emergency Pest Control; Empower Construction LLC; Hackensack Meridian Health; Huntler LLC; Langan; LB Electric Co., LLC; New Jersey Community Capital; New Jersey Department of State; Quality Dental School of Technology, Inc.; Qunnections Management Group, LLC; South Jersey Industries; Virtua Health; and We Are Jersey.
Tom Bracken, president and CEO of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce remarked on recognizing these efforts: “We will honor the companies that are walking the walk,” adding that they are celebrating those who challenge the status quo.
Dr. Denise Anderson will serve as the keynote speaker at the event. A healthcare executive and member of the African American Chamber's Board of Directors, she will present a speech titled “Framing the Importance of DE&I.”
