New Jersey residents invited to holiday open houses at Governor's residence

Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy have extended an invitation to New Jersey residents for the annual holiday open house tours at Drumthwacket, the Governor's official residence in Princeton. The event, known as The Holidays at Drumthwacket, is a tradition where each room of the historic property is decorated by the Drumthwacket Foundation in collaboration with seven garden clubs from across the state.

First Lady Tammy Murphy expressed her enthusiasm about the event, stating, "It is our joy and privilege to welcome thousands of New Jerseyans to Drumthwacket all year, and especially during the holiday season. This beautiful property, appropriately known as the People's House, is a historical and cultural treasure that becomes even more remarkable at this time of year. I am incredibly grateful for the festive decorations created by seven garden clubs across our state in partnership with the Drumthwacket Foundation."

The tours will be self-guided with docents available to provide historical information about Drumthwacket. The open house tours are scheduled on December 4-7 and December 11, 2024. While reservations are necessary, both admission and on-site parking are free.

Visitors can expect various display presentations throughout the public first floor of Drumthwacket. Contributions include wreaths by Warren Garden Club at the entrance gate and windows; decorations by Garden Club of Metuchen in areas such as the front door, foyer, and solarium; dining room arrangements by Keyport Garden Club; parlor decor by Mountain Lakes Garden Club; music room embellishments by Allentown Garden Club; library displays by West Trenton Garden Club; and decorations in the Governor’s study by Belvidere Garden Club.
