International Process Plants acquires GEO Specialty Chemicals' Pa. manufacturing site

North Cedar Crest Redevelopment LLC (NCCR), an affiliate of International Process Plants and Equipment Corp. (IPP), has acquired GEO Specialty Chemicals' resin and coatings manufacturing facility in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This acquisition marks the 20th complete plant site owned by IPP and its affiliates globally.

GEO Specialty Chemicals is a division of CPS Performance Materials. The Allentown facility ceased operations in June 2024 but had been part of the local community for nearly a century. Jeremy Steinfink, CEO of CPS Performance Materials, stated, "We chose to partner with International Process Plants’ affiliate NCCR on our exit of the Allentown site due to IPP’s strength and longevity in their responsible, sustainable redeployment of assets and redevelopment of industrial manufacturing sites."

The facility spans over 95 acres and offers robust chemical production capabilities with various process equipment adaptable for multiple industrial applications. Its location provides excellent connectivity to major infrastructure networks, making it suitable for diverse manufacturing or logistics operations.

Ross Gale, Vice President at IPP, commented on the acquisition: “This acquisition by our affiliate highlights our dedication to acquiring, redeveloping and repurposing idled industrial sites in ways that benefit businesses and communities.” He added that they aim to drive sustainable economic growth in the Lehigh Valley by bringing new investment and job opportunities.

IPP has a reputation for transforming previously idled sites into viable production facilities. It has won various redevelopment awards globally, including the 2016 Planning and Placemaking Award for best brownfield redevelopment in the United Kingdom.

Alongside this purchase, NCCR also acquired a GEO Specialty Chemicals 40-acre brownfield site in Springhill, Louisiana.

IPP operates globally with activities in 15 countries across industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, food processing, power generation among others. The company is based in Princeton Junction, New Jersey.
