NJ Transit hosts Polar Express ride for ill children

NJ TRANSIT organized a special event on the River LINE on Saturday, December 7, welcoming Santa Claus to deliver gifts to children battling illnesses. The "Polar Express" ride was arranged for the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey. This marks the sixth occasion NJ TRANSIT has hosted this holiday program aimed at spreading cheer to these children and their families.

"NJ TRANSIT is proud to once again partner with the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey to host this special event, bringing holiday cheer and support to families facing significant challenges," stated NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett. "By transforming our River LINE into a magical holiday experience, we hope to make the season brighter for these children and their loved ones."

"We are so appreciative of this opportunity to once again partner with NJ TRANSIT and provide a magical Polar Express experience for our families on the River LINE," said Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey Executive Director Tracey Sharpe. "There is no way to capture the absolute joy this trip brings to our children and the memories they are able to create with their families and each other will last a lifetime!"

The "Polar Express" journey began at the Waterfront Entertainment Complex, offering a two-hour festive ride between Camden and Burlington South.

New Jersey Transit Police and the Camden Fire Department assisted in escorting families to the light rail station where they received golden tickets before boarding. The decorated light rail vehicle featured caroling volunteer elves creating a holiday atmosphere.

NJ TRANSIT is recognized as the largest statewide public transportation system in America, providing over 925,000 weekday trips across various routes including bus, light rail, commuter rail lines, and paratransit services. It ranks as the third-largest transit system in the United States.
