Throughout December, NJ TRANSIT offers a SuperSaver fare allowing up to two children aged 11 and under to travel free with each fare-paying adult until January 6 at 2:00 a.m.
New deals and discounts are available through the NJ TRANSIT mobile app, including "Buy One, Get One" offers and reduced fares to Philadelphia and Atlantic City. Details can be found on njtransit.com/holiday.
On Christmas Day, December 25, trains will follow a weekend/major holiday schedule. Most buses will run on a Sunday schedule; details are available in the holiday service guide. Light rail lines will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule.
From December 26 to 31, trains will follow a modified weekday schedule with certain morning peak period trains canceled and additional late morning trains running on specific lines. Customers are encouraged to check timetables online for detailed information.
On New Year's Eve, December 31, NJ TRANSIT will provide extra evening services to New York and Hoboken. After midnight into January 1, additional late-night trains will operate except on the Atlantic City Line. Regular weekend schedules resume after 6:30 a.m.
Buses will either follow weekday or special holiday schedules with added service on select routes between midnight and 6:00 a.m. Light Rail services maintain regular weekday schedules for New Year's Eve.
On New Year’s Day, January 1, train operations shift back to weekend/major holiday schedules after 6:00 a.m., while most bus lines adopt Saturday or Sunday schedules as specified in the holiday service guide.
NJ TRANSIT emphasizes that no beverages of any kind are allowed onboard from December 31 through early January 1 due to increased police presence statewide. The prohibition of beverages applies at all times regardless of events.
