Acting Governor Way has expressed sorrow over the passing of former President Jimmy Carter. In a statement, he praised Carter as "a man of unparalleled moral courage, faith, and humanity."
Governor Way emphasized that while Carter's presidency made a significant impact, it was his contributions after leaving office that truly distinguished him. He highlighted Carter's dedication to public service through efforts such as building homes for the homeless, fighting disease, and advancing human rights.
"President Carter exemplified the belief that public service is a lifelong calling," Way stated. He also reflected on how Carter's life demonstrated leadership with compassion and purpose.
The governor extended his condolences to Carter’s children—Jack, James II, Donnel, and Amy—and their families, as well as all those who knew him. "I am sending my prayers to his children Jack, James II, Donnel, and Amy, along with their families," he said.
