Impact of immigration on American workers to be discussed in upcoming online event

NJBIA and the New Jersey Business Immigration Coalition will host a free online event featuring immigration expert Zeke Hernandez from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. The event, titled "The Impact of Immigration on American Workers," is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 16.

Hernandez, who authored the book "The Truth About Immigration," will discuss the effects of immigration on American workers and its influence on business investment choices, growth, and performance. Additionally, insights into New Jersey's labor conditions and the broader economic impact of immigration will be shared.

Following Hernandez's keynote presentation, a panel discussion will take place with participation from New Jersey business leaders, academic experts, and organized labor representatives. Panelists include Megan Chambers, President of the New Jersey State Council of the Service Employees International Union; Ramya Devan, Ph.D., Professor of Economics at Stockton University; Lori Jenssen, Executive Director of the New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association; Patrick W. McGovern, Esq., Partner at Genova Burns; and Michele N. Siekerka, Esq., NJBIA President & CEO.
