The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has announced a series of lane closures and service changes from February 14 to February 20. These adjustments are expected to impact several major transportation hubs, including the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge, and Outerbridge Crossing.
Travelers are advised to plan ahead due to these changes. The Hoboken PATH station will remain closed for critical repairs until February 25. In addition, construction at John F. Kennedy International Airport is ongoing as part of a $19 billion redevelopment project aimed at transforming JFK into a global gateway with enhanced facilities.
Air travelers should anticipate delays or reroutes due to detours or closures within the airport's roadway network. The Port Authority strongly recommends using mass transit options such as MTA New York City Transit subway or buses and MTA Long Island Rail Road services to reach JFK.
Specific lane closures include two eastbound lanes on the upper level Trans-Manhattan Expressway at the George Washington Bridge from Friday night through Saturday morning. At the Holland Tunnel, the New Jersey-bound tube will be closed overnight from February 18 through February 20 for Superstorm Sandy-related repairs.
At the Lincoln Tunnel, various tubes will experience closures during specific time frames between February 15 and February 19. Meanwhile, scheduled lane closures will also occur at Bayonne Bridge on February 18 and Goethals Bridge on February 18-19.
For those traveling by air via Newark Liberty International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, or JFK Airport, pre-booking parking spaces is recommended to avoid peak period surcharges and ensure availability.
Further details about these changes can be found on respective websites for each facility managed by the Port Authority.
