A recent report by the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development examines the educational and employment outcomes of New Jersey high school graduates from the classes of 2014 and 2015. The study utilizes data from the New Jersey Statewide Data System to provide insights into the paths these students took after graduation.
Researchers at the Heldrich Center used descriptive statistics to assess various aspects of these graduates' trajectories, including their enrollment in postsecondary education, financial aid received, degree attainment, and employment status following high school. The analysis reveals that 66% of these students either immediately enrolled in higher education institutions or entered the workforce in New Jersey.
The report was authored by María Belén Conde Oviedo, a Graduate Research Assistant; Khudodod Khudododov, Ph.D., a Research Project Manager; Iman Basit, a Graduate Research Assistant; and Kristine Joy Bacani, a Research Project Coordinator.
The New Jersey Statewide Data System (NJSDS), previously known as the New Jersey Education to Earnings Data System (NJEEDS), serves as a centralized platform for public administrative data within New Jersey. It facilitates secure storage and access to data from various state agencies to enhance governance efforts, policymaking, and performance evaluation of public initiatives.
