LaGuardia Airport has been recognized as North America's best airport in its class for the second year in a row, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The recognition is based on passenger satisfaction ratings from the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey conducted throughout 2024. This achievement follows an $8 billion transformation that upgraded LaGuardia with new terminals and facilities.
Rick Cotton, Executive Director of the Port Authority, emphasized the significance of passenger feedback: “The ASQ award is based on direct assessments from those who matter the most – the air travelers who are using LaGuardia Airport in record numbers.” He highlighted the partnership with Delta Air Lines and LaGuardia Gateway Partners as crucial to transforming LaGuardia into a world-class airport.
Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole stated, “LaGuardia’s latest award for best North American airport in its class proves that passengers who are traveling through LaGuardia in record numbers are reaping the benefits of our historic public-private investment at the airport.”
Justin Erbacci, ACI World Director General, congratulated LaGuardia on its success: “Congratulations to LaGuardia Airport for its success in the renowned Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards, and for redefining the airport experience!”
Delta Air Lines' Ryan Marzullo expressed pride in their contributions: “With back-to-back ASQ awards for best airport, there is no doubt that we at Delta... have created a truly world-class airport.”
Suzette Noble of LaGuardia Gateway Partners noted the importance of partnerships: “Earning this coveted distinction for a second consecutive year shows the enduring commitment that all of us at LaGuardia Airport have toward creating an exceptional guest experience each and every day.”
The ASQ surveys involve direct interactions with passengers at departure gates and cover various attributes such as walking distance, restaurants, gate areas, wayfinding, connections, wi-fi, and washrooms. These improvements contributed to a significant rise in satisfaction scores since 2018.
In addition to this recognition, other accolades were received by Port Authority airports including awards from Skytrax and Forbes Travel Guide. The redevelopment project at LaGuardia began in 2015 with substantial completion achieved by 2022.
