The Hudson County Latin American Chamber of Commerce recently held its "ELLA 2025" event to honor women leaders in business, health, and public service. This event coincided with International Women's Day and celebrated the contributions of these trailblazers in shaping New Jersey's future.
Michele Siekerka, President and CEO of NJBIA, was one of the seven honorees on March 4. She also participated in a panel discussion about women breaking barriers in male-dominated fields. Dr. Antonia Novello, the first woman and Hispanic U.S. Surgeon General, was the keynote speaker and received the "Trailblazing Excellence in Public Health Leadership Award" for her dedication to public health.
Heidi Castrillón, President and CEO of HCLACC, emphasized the significance of ELLA 2025 as a movement that empowers women who redefine industries and lead with resilience. "This is more than just a celebration of leadership," she stated.
Siekerka was awarded the "Trailblazer Award for Business & Industry Leadership" for her role in advocating pro-business policies in New Jersey. The HCLACC noted her influence on legislation supporting businesses.
Other honorees included R. Debra L. Wentz, Ph.D., honored for mental health advocacy; Ingrid Echeverria, Esq., recognized for her work in immigration law; Jeanette Prenger, acknowledged for contributions to technology and business; Carmen Gandulla, awarded for community development; and Adele Rivas, recognized for leadership in the automotive industry.
