Neha Raval joins ACLU of New Jersey Board amid uncertain political landscape

The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey (ACLU-NJ) has announced the election of Neha Raval to its Board of Trustees. Raval, who boasts over 15 years of experience in program development, grantmaking, and capacity building primarily focused on health, gender justice, and community safety, will join the board at a critical time amid concerns surrounding the second Trump administration's impact on democracy.

ACLU-NJ Board of Trustees President Marc Beebe commented on Raval's appointment: “Neha’s experience advancing key advocacy programs that center racial justice, gender equity, and community health brings enormous value to the ACLU-NJ Board of Trustees. We’re thrilled to have her join us in our work to protect civil rights and civil liberties for all New Jerseyans.”

Raval's current role is as a Senior Program Officer at The Just Trust, where she is involved in criminal legal reform and community safety initiatives. Her previous experience includes work as a Senior Program Officer at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. According to ACLU-NJ Executive Director Amol Sinha, “I am proud to welcome Neha to our Board of Trustees. I look forward to working together to ensure that the ACLU-NJ is best positioned to meet this moment, and that New Jersey forges the strongest firewall of freedom.”

Raval also has experience with The New York Women’s Foundation, where she led the Initiative Against Sex Trafficking of Minors, aiming to empower survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation. Her career includes endeavors with organizations like Frontline Solutions and Global Fund for Children, along with service as a Peace Corps volunteer in Moldova.

ACLU-NJ Board of Trustees Member Neha Raval expressed her commitment: “As a proud New Jerseyan, I'm honored to join the ACLU-NJ Board of Trustees. The organization’s mission to preserve, advance, and extend the individual rights guaranteed to everyone who calls our state home is more vital now than ever. I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members in the coming years.”

Raval's work on the board will align with the organization’s ongoing mission to uphold individual rights and liberties for all New Jerseyans through court, legislative, and community actions.
