Building strategic relationships is a key focus for leaders during challenging times, as highlighted by experts at NJBIA's recent "Next-Gen: The New Era of Leadership" program. Steve Adubato, an Emmy award-winning broadcaster, author, and leadership coach, emphasized the significance of being intentional and consistent in fostering relationships. He noted, "The most important message I want to deliver … is to be more intentional, strategic, consistent and genuine, working every day to build, foster and strengthen relationships because they matter more than ever when things get difficult."
Michele Siekerka, President of NJBIA, one of New Jersey's leading organizations for job creators, joined Adubato for a discussion in a fireside-chat format. They shared insights on adapting leadership strategies to manage changes effectively during uncertain times.
Adubato stressed the importance of leaders prioritizing tasks they are uniquely suited to handle and encouraging their teams to take on new responsibilities. He believes that this approach, although it might initially discomfort the team, ultimately strengthens the organization. "You have to push those things to other people, push them into their uncomfortable zone, so that you have more time, more energy, to focus on the things that only you can do – especially in crazy times like these," Adubato stated.
Adubato, who has authored six books, is known for his program "Lessons in Leadership" on News 12+. The full discussion, recorded on April 4 in Red Bank during NJBIA's program, is available to watch.
