NJBIA member Frank A. Preston, president and CEO of ACI Medical & Dental School, was interviewed on "One-on-One with Steve Adubato," which aired Tuesday night on NJ PBS. During the discussion, Preston emphasized the crucial impact of trade schools in addressing staffing shortages in the healthcare industry.
ACI Medical & Dental School, based in Eatontown, is celebrating its 20th year of operation. It offers programs aimed at preparing students for careers in the medical and dental fields. The school, accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, provides pathways for students entering these professions.
“We have two programs we really specialize in … Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy, EKG and Patient Care, and Our Dental Assistant with Radiology Licensing,” Preston stated. “Both of these programs are accelerating, and within four months you’re starting your internship and or your employment.”
Preston noted the growing importance of vocational education as an alternative for those unable to pursue traditional college education and for adults with four-year degrees seeking career changes. “Within 14 weeks, people are able to get the clinical skillset they need to be able to successful on the front line,” he noted. Many graduates take advantage of the work experience gained as medical or dental assistants while continuing education to advance as nurses, dental hygienists, or physician’s assistants.
