Charlie Morrison appointed as new CEO of Jersey Mike’s Subs

Jersey Mike's Subs, a well-regarded franchisor with over 3,000 locations across the United States, recently announced the appointment of Charlie Morrison as its new CEO. Morrison, a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the restaurant industry, takes over from Peter Cancro, who steps down after leading the company for nearly fifty years. Cancro acquired the company's first location in Point Pleasant in 1975 and will continue to serve as chairman of the Board of Directors, while also remaining a significant minority shareholder.

Charlie Morrison expressed his admiration for Jersey Mike’s legacy, stating, “Jersey Mike’s is a unique brand with a rich history, loyal customer base and authentic culture which Peter and his talented team have cultivated over the past five decades.” Morrison's past leadership roles include guiding Wingstop as CEO from 2012 to 2022, where he expanded the brand significantly and oversaw its successful initial public offering. He also served as CEO at Salad and Go, where he substantially increased the company's store presence.

Upon his appointment, effective April 28, Morrison looks forward to building on Jersey Mike's progress. “I am honored to be entrusted with continuing this legacy and I could not be more excited to get to work with this incredible team,” he remarked.

Cancro expressed strong support for Morrison, affirming that, “In Charlie, we have found the ideal next CEO for Jersey Mike’s.” Nigel Travis, lead director of Jersey Mike's Board of Directors, also shared his enthusiasm, describing Morrison as “a titan in the franchised restaurant space."

Last year, Jersey Mike’s announced a partnership with Blackstone to accelerate its global expansion and enhance investment in technology.
