New Jersey Citizen Action (NJCA) Executive Director Dena Mottola Jaborska expressed the organization's support for Ras Baraka's recent appeal regarding the upcoming gubernatorial election. Jaborska's statement came in response to Baraka's remarks at a press conference on April 29, 2025.
Ras Baraka has called for all gubernatorial candidates to establish strong platforms that address racial equity issues. He emphasized that failing to do so could lead to losing crucial support from Black and Brown voters. According to Jaborska, "too many of these voters are disengaged from the political process because their voices and concerns have gone unheard by the party establishments."
NJCA has endorsed Baraka as he is seen as a candidate who will directly tackle entrenched racial and socio-economic disparities in New Jersey. "By addressing these deep inequities, and fighting for working families, our next governor can build a better New Jersey for everyone," Jaborska stated.
With the general election just months away, Jaborska stressed the importance for gubernatorial candidates, particularly the primary victor, to engage with communities of color and working families. She highlighted the necessity of formulating tangible solutions to address their challenges. "We cannot win without them, but we need to earn their votes," she concluded.
