Applications for the Yes Bus Acting Camp, led by the directors of the 2024 film "Mean Girls," are now open for high school students from New York and New Jersey. The camp focuses on mentorship and aims to support young aspiring performers, especially those from underserved communities.
The acting camp will run from July 7 to July 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. While attendance is free, participants need to manage their own transportation to Midtown Manhattan.
Applicants aged 14 to 18 are required to submit an online application along with a one to three-minute monologue by June 15. Successful candidates will be informed via email by June 22.
The initiative is financially supported and directed by "Mean Girls" co-directors Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne. Their goal is to equip young artists with confidence and access to acting resources they might not typically have. Perez stated, “This camp is more than just learning to act, it’s about giving them the confidence and support they need to believe in themselves and their potential.”
The program, initially launched in Los Angeles, marks its debut in New York City this summer. The camp promises no charges, covering expenses like professional headshots and meals. The location in Midtown Manhattan will be revealed to selected students.
