Heldrich Center to debut new podcast exploring work and policy trends

The Heldrich Center for Workforce Development is set to launch a new podcast series titled "Work Trends RU." This series targets issues related to work, education, social policy, and financial security, and it will feature conversations with policymakers, experts, and leaders from various sectors.

According to the center, "Work Trends RU" will explore topics such as the modern workforce, economic challenges, artificial intelligence in the context of future employment, and the interaction between public policies and private initiatives addressing the needs of job seekers, workers, and employers. The podcast is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, May 6, and will be hosted by Dr. Carl Van Horn along with other scholars from the Heldrich Center.

The inaugural episode includes an interview with Phil Murphy, Governor of New Jersey. The discussion reportedly covers the governor’s term and his administration's efforts towards economic growth, workforce development, affordable education, and innovation. Governor Murphy also shares his thoughts on New Jersey's upcoming leadership transition and reflects on lessons from his early career.

Future episodes are expected to feature interviews with notable figures, including Jane Oates, President of WorkingNation; James Moore from KPMG; New Jersey's First Lady Tammy Murphy; Todd Greene of WorkRise and the Urban Institute; and Rachel Korberg from the Families and Workers Fund.
