Travel advisory issued for lane closures from May 2-8 at major NY-NJ crossings

Lane closures have been announced for the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, and Lincoln Tunnel. These will affect traffic from May 2 to 8. Travelers are encouraged to plan their routes and add extra travel time.

In addition, starting May 6, pickup locations for for-hire vehicles at JFK's Terminals 5 and 7 will be moved to the Howard Beach Ride App & Car Services Pickup Lot. Passengers can use the AirTrain for free to reach this area.

From May 7, the TSA will enforce the requirement for state IDs to be REAL ID compliant at airport security checkpoints. This change could lead to delays for passengers without the suitable ID.

The ongoing $19 billion redevelopment of John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is another factor affecting travel to and from the airport. The Port Authority recommends using mass transit options like the MTA New York City Transit subway or buses, which connect to the AirTrain JFK station at Jamaica.

The Holland Tunnel will see closures of the New Jersey-bound tube at various times from May 4 to May 9 due to Superstorm Sandy-related repairs. The Lincoln Tunnel will have the south tube closed at different periods from May 3 to May 7.

At Newark Liberty International Airport, runway rehabilitation may change flight schedules through mid-June. Passengers are advised to check with airlines for updates. The specific AirTrain service between Terminal B and Terminal A will also be temporarily suspended at designated times.

PATH train services are undergoing maintenance, impacting schedules and station accessibility at specific times from May 3 to May 4. The Port Authority encourages checking updates on their website or using the RidePath mobile app for detailed information.
