Beginning May 13, the pickup location for ride apps and car services at John F. Kennedy International Airport's Terminal 4 will be relocated to Lot 66 Ride App & Car Services Pickup. This change aims to alleviate traffic congestion at the terminal frontage during the summer travel season and peak construction of the new JFK airport.
The relocation will occur daily from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m., and passengers should use a free shuttle bus departing every 1-2 minutes from Terminal 4's arrivals level to reach Lot 66. It is advised that passengers order their ride no more than five minutes before arriving at the lot, with an announcement on the shuttle bus indicating when it is five minutes away from the destination.
Signage will guide passengers to pick-up locations, while taxi service and ADA accessible rideshares will continue operating at the terminal frontage. Those heading to Terminal 4 for departures will still be dropped off directly at the terminal.
This strategy follows a successful implementation last summer, which diverted approximately 500,000 vehicles from Terminal 4's frontage. Modeled after a similar approach used during LaGuardia Airport's redevelopment, this plan promises faster pickups and easier access to major expressways.
JFK Airport faces increased traveler volumes amid ongoing $19 billion redevelopment efforts, including constructing New Terminal One, Terminal 6, a new ground transportation center, and roadway network reconstruction by Port Authority.
