New Jersey-bound weekend service on the 33 St-JSQ via HOB line will experience changes starting June 15, as announced by the Port Authority. An additional stop at Exchange Place will add seven minutes to trips toward Grove Street and Journal Square. The frequency of trains remains unchanged at every 20 minutes.
There are no modifications to the weekend New York-bound service on the Newark-Penn Station to World Trade Center and 33 St to Journal Square lines, which maintain a 20-minute interval between trains. Trains from Hoboken to 33 St continue running every ten minutes. Weekday PATH services remain unaffected by these weekend adjustments.
The temporary changes aim to facilitate rail replacement and track stabilization work between Journal Square, Hoboken, Exchange Place, and Newport stations. The single-tracking operation allows New Jersey-bound trains on the JSQ-33 St via HOB line to stop briefly at Exchange Place while New York-bound trains pass through. This adds seven minutes to westbound trips but ensures safe train operations without suspending service.
Looking ahead in 2025, the Port Authority plans more significant PATH service alterations with six weekends of outages scheduled for fall between Harrison and Journal Square stations. These outages accommodate demolition work on a freight rail bridge over PATH tracks and new track interlocking installation for improved system resilience and flexibility. Specific dates include September 6-7, 13-14, 20-21; October 4-5, 11-12, and 25-26.
The PATH Forward project is set for completion in spring 2026. A progress update will be provided in fall 2025 following an assessment of completed work. Updated schedules reflecting post-project operations will be released in early 2026.
