Airbnb and FIFA have announced a partnership that will span three major tournaments, aiming to enhance travel experiences for fans while providing economic benefits to local communities and support for host cities. Over the next three years, Airbnb will take on roles as an Official Partner or Supporter across these events.
Airbnb is set to be an Official Partner for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which begins this weekend. Additionally, it will serve as an Official Supporter for both the FIFA World Cup in 2026, taking place in North America, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027. The company plans to offer Official Fan Accommodation through its platform globally during these tournaments.
Fans can also engage with soccer legends such as Tim Howard through Airbnb Experiences during these events. It is expected that over 380,000 guests will use Airbnb accommodations during the FIFA World Cup 26 alone, contributing an estimated $3.6 billion to host city economies according to Deloitte's study. A $5 million Host City Impact Program has been launched by FIFA with support from Airbnb to aid community initiatives.
Specifically in New York and New Jersey during the 2026 tournament, around 25,000 guests are anticipated to generate a total economic impact of $288 million. Hosts in this region could collectively earn up to $20 million throughout the event duration.
Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb stated: “The World Cup brings the world together — and so do we... driving meaningful economic impact for local communities.”
The upcoming Club World Cup includes top club teams from six continents competing at various locations including MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The final match is scheduled there on July 13.
Next year's Men’s World Cup will see matches played across U.S., Canada, and Mexico cities with New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium hosting eight games including the final on July 19, 2026. In contrast, Brazil will host games for the Women’s World Cup in 2027.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed enthusiasm about Airbnb's involvement: “We’re delighted... having a travel leader such as Airbnb by our side is special."
