New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin issued a statement following a ruling by the District Court of Massachusetts. The court has once again placed a nationwide injunction on President Trump's executive order concerning birthright citizenship.
"We are thrilled that the district court again barred President Trump’s flagrantly unconstitutional birthright citizenship order from taking effect anywhere," stated Platkin. He emphasized that the decision aligns with the Supreme Court's guidance and prevents any adverse effects on New Jersey and other states involved in challenging the order. "American-born babies are American, just as they have been at every other time in our Nation’s history. The President cannot change that legal rule with the stroke of a pen," he added.
The injunction halts the implementation of what Platkin described as an unconstitutional measure, reaffirming existing legal standards for citizenship in the United States.
