Heldrich Center study finds positive impact of NJ Tuition Aid Grant on student graduation

Researchers at the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development have released a new report analyzing the impact of New Jersey's Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) program on college graduation rates. The study, titled "Building a Comparison Group for Tuition Aid Grant Recipients Using the New Jersey Statewide Data System," found that the TAG program has a positive effect on graduation outcomes for first-time, full-time matriculated students. The analysis also compared graduation rates across different demographic groups and examined how participation in developmental coursework influenced these outcomes.

The report was authored by Khudodod Khudododov, Ph.D., Research Project Manager, and Ahmad Salman Zafar, former Research Assistant at the Heldrich Center.

The research utilized data from the New Jersey Statewide Data System (NJSDS), which is New Jersey’s centralized platform for public administrative data. NJSDS collects and stores information from various state agencies to support better governance, policymaking, and evaluation of public programs.
