Overnight closures are scheduled for the eastbound lanes of Bridge Plaza North in Fort Lee, New Jersey, from Monday, August 18, through Friday, August 29. The closure will affect the stretch between Center Avenue and Lemoine Avenue due to PSE&G gas line construction. The westbound lane and the adjacent north sidewalk will remain open during this period.
This work is part of the Port Authority’s $2 billion "Restoring the George" program, which includes 11 projects focused on repairing and rehabilitating the George Washington Bridge as it approaches its centennial. The program has included rehabilitation of the Lemoine Avenue overpass and required replacement of the PSE&G gas line.
During the closure, eastbound traffic on Bridge Plaza North will be rerouted via northbound Center Avenue, eastbound Lincoln Avenue, and southbound Lemoine Avenue. The taxi stand usually located on Bridge Plaza North will be temporarily moved to the Main Street Municipal Lot at 231 Main Street in Fort Lee.
The scheduled lane closures are as follows: Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 21 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.; Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23 from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.; with no closure planned for Sunday night into Monday morning; and then resuming Monday, August 25 through Thursday, August 28 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
