JerseyCAN opens applications for teacher and parent fellowships focused on education policy

JerseyCAN has opened applications for its New Jersey Teacher Leader Policy Fellowship and Parent Champions for Strong Schools Fellowship. The nonprofit, which aims to improve education quality across the state, is seeking a new group of fellows to participate in these programs.

Over the course of one year, fellows will study New Jersey’s education policy landscape and develop advocacy skills while working toward a short-term goal. Participants will also receive professional learning and networking opportunities. Each fellow will be awarded a $2,500 stipend for their commitment.

Applications for both fellowships are due by September 23. Those interested can access the applications through the provided link on JerseyCAN's website.

Fellows will collaborate with teachers and parents within their own fellowship and across both groups. They will receive support to take action at either the state or local level in several key areas: developing innovative teaching methods, advancing career pathways that prepare students for college or careers—including options like early college credit and apprenticeships—and strengthening instruction in foundational English language arts and math.

For more information about these fellowships, visit the JerseyCAN website.
