NJEDA opens applications for $500 million manufacturing tax credit program

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has announced that applications for the Next New Jersey Manufacturing Program will open on September 25, 2025. The program aims to promote growth in the state's manufacturing sector by providing long-term benefits to companies.

Governor Phil Murphy recently signed legislation, A5687/S4407, into law, which established a $500 million tax credit initiative. The Next NJ Manufacturing Program is designed to encourage significant investment and job creation within New Jersey’s manufacturing industry. Under this program, manufacturers can qualify for a tax credit award of up to $150 million depending on their proposed new jobs and capital investments.

Eligible applicants include businesses operating in advanced manufacturing, non-retail food and beverage production, defense, clean energy, and life sciences sectors.

The new tax credit program was established last month with Governor Murphy's signature on A5687/S4407. It provides substantial financial incentives aimed at supporting job creation and capital investment among manufacturers across several key industries in New Jersey.
