New Jersey Policy Perspective (NJPP) has announced the addition of Tonanziht Aguas to its research team as a Policy Analyst. In her new role, Aguas will work on policies aimed at promoting economic security for families across New Jersey.
Aguas brings experience from several organizations in the policy and research field. She previously served as a Research Fellow for a guaranteed income pilot program in Newark, where she analyzed how direct cash assistance affects families. Her background also includes research on food access issues in northern New Jersey and roles with the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education, New America, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and Vivo Foundation.
“Tonanziht’s passion for economic justice and her deep experience in both research and implementation make her a tremendous asset to our team,” said NJPP Research Director Brittany Holom-Trundy. “Her work will play a critical role in shaping policy proposals that create a fairer, more equitable New Jersey.”
“I’m thrilled to join NJPP and contribute to its mission of advancing equity and opportunity,” said Ms. Aguas. “New Jersey families deserve programs that reflect their lived experiences and give them the tools to build lasting stability. I look forward to helping ensure their voices are heard in shaping legislative solutions.”
Aguas holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Rutgers University–Newark.
