NJEA expands relief fund to include classroom supply losses from mold

The New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) has announced an expansion of its Hardship Relief Fund to cover the loss of classroom supplies and materials due to mold infestation at worksites. The decision was made during the NJEA Delegate Assembly meeting on January 11, 2025.

Previously, the fund provided grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 for eligible members who experienced losses such as primary residence displacement, food insecurity, or loss of classroom supplies as a result of fire or natural disasters. With this change, incidents involving mold that occurred on or after January 11, 2025, are now included in the program.
