Port Authority announces travel disruptions across major bridges, tunnels, and airports

Lane closures and service changes are set to affect travelers in the New York and New Jersey area this week, as announced by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. These disruptions include lane closures at several major bridges and tunnels, including the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing, and Goethals Bridge.

The George Washington Bridge will see multiple closures on its upper level from October 4 to October 6. The North Walk will be closed for maintenance work during this period. The Holland Tunnel's New Jersey-bound tube will be closed nightly from October 6 to October 10 due to ongoing repairs related to Superstorm Sandy.

At the Lincoln Tunnel, different tubes will face closures between October 5 and October 10. Bayonne Bridge will have one southbound right lane closed daily from October 7 to October 10. The Outerbridge Crossing will close one eastbound right lane each night during the same period.

AirTrain Newark service between Rail Link and P4 stations will be suspended overnight on October 6 for routine maintenance. Passengers can use free shuttle buses as an alternative. Travelers at Newark Liberty International Airport Terminal B should expect delays due to airside rehabilitation work.

Construction at John F. Kennedy International Airport is part of a $19 billion redevelopment project affecting traffic patterns around Terminal 4. Motorists are advised to use mass transit options like MTA subways or Long Island Rail Road for airport access.

Travelers are encouraged by the Port Authority to plan ahead and allow extra travel time due to these disruptions.
