American Education Week, scheduled for November 18-22, offers a chance to recognize public education and acknowledge those contributing to the success of every child's educational journey.
The National Education Association (NEA) played a key role in establishing American Education Week. The inaugural event took place in 1921, with NEA and the American Legion as co-sponsors. In 1922, the U.S. Office of Education joined as a co-sponsor, followed by the PTA in 1938.
