Raritan Valley Community College hosts Apprenticeship Day for manufacturing students

Raritan Valley Community College recently organized an Apprenticeship Day event for students involved in its Advanced Manufacturing Program. The event, held as part of the National Apprenticeship Week from November 17 to 23, included participants from Manville and Bound Brook High Schools and an apprentice from Triad Tool, a machine shop in Readington Township.

Apprenticeships offer a career pathway that allows employers to develop a skilled workforce while providing individuals with paid work experience, wage increases, classroom instruction, and a nationally recognized credential. These programs are validated by the U.S. Labor Department or state agencies.

The RVCC event on November 20 included a presentation on apprenticeship principles and firsthand accounts from manufacturing apprentices. Speakers shared their daily experiences and stressed the importance of practical learning for professional growth.

Representatives from Triad Tool discussed the benefits of apprenticeships for their organization, including improved productivity and reduced turnover. They emphasized how apprentices bring critical industry skills to the workforce.

Students had the chance to participate in a question-and-answer session with apprentices and engage in discussions with a Triad Tool representative. These interactions highlighted rewarding career opportunities in manufacturing.
