The New Jersey Chamber of Commerce has expressed satisfaction with the U.S. Department of Transportation's decision to end congestion pricing. The Chamber believes this decision supports their longstanding view that the policy was detrimental to New Jersey and financially beneficial to New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
"We thank U.S. DOT Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and the Trump Administration for cancelling congestion pricing," said Tom Bracken, President & CEO of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. He also acknowledged the efforts of Gov. Phil Murphy and Rep. Josh Gottheimer in opposing what he described as an unfair policy targeting New Jersey commuters and businesses.
Bracken reiterated his stance, stating, "It validates what we have been saying all along that this was punitive towards New Jersey – and a money grab for New York’s MTA."
