Proposed budget cuts threaten Medicaid funding in New Jersey

Congress is set to vote on a Budget Resolution that requires the House Energy and Commerce Committee to implement $880 billion in cuts to the federal budget over the next decade. These reductions would significantly impact Medicaid funding.

Federal Medicaid dollars are crucial for NJ FamilyCare, which provides health insurance coverage for 20% of New Jersey residents. The program covers more than 820,000 children from birth to 18 years old, supports about a third of all births annually, and assists youth living in or aging out of foster care.

Concerned individuals are encouraged to contact their congressional representatives and urge them to oppose the Budget Resolution. Advocates believe this action can influence the decision-making process and help protect healthcare services for vulnerable populations in New Jersey.

A tool is available for constituents to find contact information for their congressional representatives. Constituents are advised to introduce themselves by mentioning their town when making calls or sending emails.
