The Mantoloking Road Playhouse in Brick is set to open this week, marking a significant milestone for the local community. This project, led by Kendra and Anthony Zarrilli, has transformed an old boatyard at 266 Mantoloking Road into the town's first live theater and arts venue.
The new playhouse will serve as the home for the Brick Children’s Community Theater (BCCT), which celebrates its 33rd season. The Zarrillis have been involved with BCCT for over 15 years and invested $2.4 million in this transformation.
The venue features a 120-seat theater with 20-foot ceilings, a stage measuring 20’ x 40’, high-tech LED lighting and projections, and quality acoustics. This space will not only host BCCT performances but also be available for other performing arts groups, music shows, recitals, and stand-up comedy.
BCCT had previously performed in neighboring towns' venues. This led the Zarrillis to establish their own theater space. Their connection with BCCT began when their daughters joined the organization.
The playhouse's first event is Frozen Jr., running from March 6-9, which is already sold out. The Grand Opening Gala on March 21st will benefit BCCT and feature alumni including Brick native Remember Jones.
