George Washington Bridge plans lane closures for New York-bound travelers

From 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, to 5 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, lane closures and traffic holds are scheduled on the New York-bound George Washington Bridge. The planned closures, subject to weather conditions, will affect three bridge approach lanes on the upper level eastbound from the Lemoine Avenue overpass to the bridge.

Additionally, from 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, intermittent traffic holds are expected on approach roads in Fort Lee as preparations for a traffic pattern change take place.

Drivers should anticipate delays due to these intermittent traffic holds of approximately 15 minutes during the affected periods and are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the area. Passenger vehicles may want to consider using the lower level of the bridge.

The new traffic pattern is being implemented to facilitate the ongoing removal of the toll canopy following the agency's transition to cashless tolling.
