The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is set to conduct a routine emergency response exercise at Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday, June 28. The exercise will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Passengers and the public may observe simulated smoke and numerous emergency vehicles in and around the airport during this period.
Airport operations are expected to remain unaffected by the exercise, which is part of regular on-site training sessions scheduled throughout the year at major airports managed by the agency.
The focus of Saturday's exercise will be on the airport’s emergency plan for mutual aid response. This initiative allows airport personnel and local emergency response organizations to train together and verify their response procedures. Participants in the exercise will include members of the Port Authority Police Department, civilian staff, as well as federal, state, local, and airline partners.
