NJCPA launches annual statewide food drive for Community FoodBank partnership

The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) has started its 16th annual food drive to support the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ). The initiative, organized by the NJCPA’s Emerging Leaders Council, will accept both physical and online donations at various member offices and other locations across the state until November 14.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is marking its 50th anniversary in 2025. It collaborates with over 800 community partners, such as food pantries and shelters, serving residents in 15 counties. Each year, the FoodBank distributes more than 90 million meals through its network. According to data from the organization, almost 12% of people in New Jersey are food insecure, and nearly 19% of children in South Jersey experience hunger.

Donations can be made online at njcpa.org/fooddrive. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at participating office locations or at the NJCPA headquarters in Roseland by appointment.

Participating organizations include Alloy Silverstein in Cherry Hill; CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) in Livingston; Deloitte in Morristown; Forvis Mazars USA LLP in Iselin; Paymedia, LLC in East Hanover; PKF O’Connor Davies, LLP in Cranford; Prager Metis LLP in Hackensack; SKC & Co. CPAs, LLC in Boonton Township; Smolin, Lupin & Co., LLC in Parsippany; Stephano Slack LLC in Moorestown; Traphagen CPAs & Wealth Advisors in Oradell; WilkinGuttenplan and Withum with multiple locations. Bowman & Company LLP is accepting only online donations.

The NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council consists of members with up to ten years of experience and includes aspiring CPAs and new licensees. In last year’s drive, more than 2,300 pounds of nonperishable goods were collected along with over $22,000 contributed online. Since launching the effort in 2010, NJCPA has donated close to 30,000 pounds of food and non-perishable items to CFBNJ.

“We all can have a hand in reducing hunger in New Jersey. The Food Drive is a great reminder of how every little bit helps, whether it's in donations or giving of one's time," said Joseph Hunt, CPA, PSA, manager at CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) LLP and chair of the NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council.

“We look forward to having members participate again in this year’s food drive. CPAs and finance professionals by nature play such an important role in serving their clients, organizations and communities. These programs remind us that we can all play a part in reducing food insecurity,” said Aiysha (AJ) Johnson, MA, IOM, CEO and executive director at the NJCPA.
